Arrest warrant filed for man after alleged dog attack in Alexandria – Alexandria Echo Press

ALEXANDRIA — An arrest warrant has been filed for an Alexandria man who allegedly threw his rottweiler at a young man.

Andrew Michael Mazoleny-Caswell, 23, was charged with second-degree assault – assault of another person with a dangerous weapon in connection with the alleged incident.

The charge was filed June 17 in Douglas County District Court.

According to probable cause in the case, three young men were eating in a parking lot near Taco Bell in Alexandria in April, when a car with three men pulled up next to them and allegedly began harassing them about the expensive truck they were transporting. minors were driving.

The three men had a rottweiler with them, and the driver and owner of the dog, later identified as Mazoleny-Caswell, allegedly tried to open the truck door and attack the juvenile with the dog, the release said.

The juvenile and his friends drove to Casey's on South Broadway Street to escape, but the men followed them and all three allegedly began attacking the juvenile, the release states.

The three men allegedly punched the minor, and one of them jumped on the minor and choked him until he almost lost consciousness, the statement said.

While the juvenile was on the ground, Mazoleny-Caswell allegedly ordered his dog to attack the juvenile, and the dog allegedly bit the juvenile on the leg, the release states.

The men fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, but one of the minor's friends took a photo of the vehicle's license plate, the release said.

The vehicle is registered to Mazoleny-Caswell, the release states.

A deputy spoke with the juvenile at the hospital and observed a dog bite on the juvenile's leg, the release states.

Law enforcement has been unable to locate Mazoleny-Caswell and his whereabouts are currently unknown, the release states.

The maximum sentence Mazoleny-Caswell could receive for this criminal charge is seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine.

Man charged with second-degree burglary

A Maplewood man was charged with second-degree burglary in Douglas County District Court after he was caught on surveillance video attempting to steal bundles of cash from a residence's safes Forada.

Kasey Aaron Keller, 22, was allegedly pictured on video entering the room where the safes were located and going straight to them, although they were concealed, the probable cause statement states in the case.

Keller then allegedly opened the safes with a key and removed three wads of cash, after which he noticed the security camera, swore and left the residence without the cash, the release states.

Approximately 9 months earlier, the same residence was the scene of a burglary during which $124,900 was stolen, the release states. This burglary remains under investigation, but surveillance cameras have been installed in the home, the release states.

Keller refused to provide a statement to law enforcement, the release said.

If convicted, Keller faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Bayport man convicted of burglary

A Bayport, Minnesota, man was convicted of second-degree burglary in Douglas County District Court on June 6.

According to probable cause in the case, Jamal Jacob Moore, 41, threw a rock through the door of the Hiway Amoco gas station in Evansville on April 18.

He then allegedly entered the gas station, removed six packs of Newport cigarettes from above the counter and left, the release states.

Moore was arrested later that morning after returning to the gas station and acting suspiciously, the release states.

Deputies ran the license plate of the truck Moore was driving and discovered it had been stolen out of Sioux Falls, SD, and was involved in an armed robbery, the release states.

Inside the vehicle, officers found several packs of Newport cigarettes as well as personal items “likely belonging to the rightful owner,” the release states.

Surveillance footage from the gas station also confirmed that it was Moore who broke the window, the release states.

Moore said he borrowed the vehicle from a friend and did not know it was stolen, the release states.

Douglas County Dispatch confirmed the vehicle was registered to a person who was not the friend Moore said loaned him the vehicle, the release states.

According to court documents, Moore was sentenced to 18 months in the St. Cloud Correctional Facility. The sentence is suspended for five years.

Additionally, he was sentenced to 53 days in the Douglas County Jail, with 53 days credit for time served.

Moore was also placed on five years of supervised probation and must pay various fines and fees in the amount of $125.
