Arrest made, victim hospitalized in shooting outside Stop & Shop in Revere

Authorities arrested a suspect Tuesday accused of a broad daylight shooting outside a grocery store.

Revere police say around 6:30 p.m., a victim was shot in the parking lot of Stop & Shop on Squire Road. He was transported to an area hospital.

Their condition is unknown at this time.

Authorities say a suspect is in custody, although his name and the charges against him are unknown.

Video from a Tesla camera shows a confrontation between a group of people. A person appears to pull a gun from his waistband and shoot the victim a few steps from the entrance to the store, where customers can be seen entering and exiting.

The witness, who wished to remain anonymous, was in his Tesla as it charged in the parking lot and saw everything.

“If it’s a gunshot, don’t let it hit me, because I don’t want to get shot either,” the witness said. “It happened right away.”

He said the man who was shot ran toward Stop and Shop and the man who pulled the trigger quickly walked away.

Revere police temporarily blocked off the grocery store to investigate.

“When I was talking to the police, my whole body was shaking like butterflies,” the witness said. “I’m still shaken by it.”

According to authorities, the shooting does not appear to be a coincidence.

In a statement, Stop & Shop said the safety of its customers is of the utmost importance:

Stop & Shop is aware of this unfortunate incident outside our Revere store and we are cooperating with police in their investigation. The safety of our associates and customers is a top priority for us, and we thank local law enforcement and first responders for their quick response. The Revere store has reopened to serve the community.
