Arrest made following fatal stabbing in West Phoenix: PD

PHOENIX – Phoenix police officials say a man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left another man dead.

In a news release, investigators say officers were called to the area of ​​27th Avenue and Indian School Road around 12:35 a.m. Saturday. When police arrived, they found the victim with at least one stab wound.

“The victim did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said. “The victim has not yet been positively identified.”

According to investigators, the suspect, identified as Robert Alan Downs, 37, was arrested without incident.

“Downs presented a claim of self-defense that did not match the evidence found at the scene. He was ultimately incarcerated for murder,” part of the statement read.
