Arrest made following fatal shooting of teenager Lawrence

LAWRENCE (KSNT) — Lawrence police have arrested a suspect following the shooting death of a local teenager earlier this week.

The Lawrence Police Department posted on social media on June 14 that it had arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Isaiah Neal. Police received a tip that led to the 18-year-old's arrest for second-degree murder. The man turned himself in to Miami County police without incident.

Lawrence Police were called around 1:15 a.m. Thursday, June 13, to the 2400 block of Alabama Street for reports of shots fired. Officers arriving on scene found a teenager suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and began lifesaving efforts until paramedics arrived.

Lawrence police began searching the scene as witnesses and family members gathered following the shooting. The 17-year-old shooting victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim was later identified as Neal.
