Arrest in unsolved case in 2007 Hartford, Connecticut shooting: police

The suspect and victim were 18 years old at the time of the shooting.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A cold case in Hartford is nearly closed after the suspect in a 2007 shooting was arrested Tuesday, police said Friday.

Police arrested Ramon Smith, 35, of Hartford after he was extradited to Connecticut from Warren, Maine. Smith now faces charges related to the shooting death of Joshua McClelland, police said.

Police were called to the 200 block of Blue Hills Avenue on the evening of March 25, 2007, where responding officers found McClelland with multiple gunshot wounds. He was then transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

Smith and McClelland were 18 at the time.

Smith was charged with murder and criminal possession of a firearm. He is being held on $1 million bail.
