Arrest in Lowell, MA, death of teenage girl – NBC Boston

A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl last week in Lowell, Massachusetts, authorities said Monday.

The girl was identified Monday as Alianah Dickey, who was killed Thursday night or early Friday, hours before her eighth-grade graduation, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Monday.

Trevor Bady, a 21-year-old Tewksbury man, was arrested Monday afternoon and faces charges including Alianah's murder, Ryan said. He was scheduled to appear in Lowell District Court on Tuesday. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could speak about his arrest.

The couple had been out together and Alianah told others the man had been violent.

“Alianna should have finished eighth grade on Friday,” Ryan said.

Bady is charged with murder, armed home invasion, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharge of a weapon fire within 500 feet of a building.

Early Friday morning, shortly after midnight, police received a call reporting a man and woman arguing across the street. The caller heard the woman scream, “Let me go, get away from me, I don't want to be with you.” more.”

That caller also reported hearing gunshots, and police responded, but could not find the people involved, Ryan's office said.

On Friday afternoon, Alianah failed to show up for her graduation ceremony. Around 6:10 p.m., her grandmother called Lowell police to report that she had been found in an apartment on Lawrence Street and was possibly dead. She had suffered several gunshot wounds.

“This is an isolated incident,” Lowell Police Superintendent Greg Hudon said, adding that with the arrest,
“There no longer appears to be a threat to public safety.”

Authorities say a family member found the 15-year-old girl suffering from traumatic injuries in this Lowell apartment on Friday – the day of her 8th grade graduation.

Authorities previously said they were investigating the case as an apparent homicide.
