Arrest following stabbing on Paul Bunker Drive in Taunton

TAUNTON (WBSM) — An arrest has been made in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in Taunton Tuesday afternoon on Paul Bunker Drive.

Cye Key, 24, of Taunton, was arrested and charged with home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (two counts) and possession of a Class B substance (crack).

Key was arraigned Wednesday morning at Taunton District Court and was remanded in custody pending a dangerousness hearing at a date to be determined.

He also had outstanding arrest warrants for previous incidents.

On Tuesday, July 2, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing on Paul Bunker Drive. When officers arrived, they found three Taunton men, one aged 19 and the other two aged 21, who had sustained injuries.

All three victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Key was also transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Investigations determined that Key allegedly entered an apartment armed with a hammer and a large knife and began attacking the victims.

The investigation also determined that the incident stemmed from an argument that occurred the previous night.

Key was previously convicted in 2019 of shooting a store clerk during an attempted robbery and was sentenced to five to seven years in state prison.
