Aroostook County traffic stop, drug seizure, Sherman, Maine

Timothy Pinkham, 34, of Somersworth, New Hampshire, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of drug trafficking.

SHERMAN, Maine — Maine State Police arrested a New Hampshire man on suspicion of drug trafficking following a traffic stop in Sherman on Interstate 95 Tuesday.

Police arrested Timothy Pinkham, 34, of Somersworth, New Hampshire, after allegedly finding large amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl in his vehicle, Maine Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Shannon Moss said Tuesday. , in a press release.

“The MDEA Aroostook County Task Force received information about a vehicle traveling from Massachusetts to Aroostook County containing illegal narcotics. Officers were able to determine that the vehicle was likely driven by Timothy Pinkham, 34, of Somersworth, New Hampshire, and that his driver's license had been suspended,” according to the release.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency was assisted by state police, who located the vehicle on I-95 North. A Maine State Trooper was able to identify Pinkham as the driver of the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on I-95 North in Sherman. Pinkham allegedly attempted to dispose of the suspected fentanyl during the traffic stop and was arrested, then the vehicle was searched by authorities, the release states.

During the search, police allegedly found more than 1,300 grams (2.8 pounds) of methamphetamine and more than 3.5 grams of fentanyl. Police said they also found a locked container inside the vehicle and later obtained an arrest warrant. Inside the container, police allegedly found an additional 441 grams of methamphetamine. In total, authorities seized more than 3.8 pounds of methamphetamine, with a street value of $150,000, police said.

Pinkham was taken to the Aroostook County Jail where he was charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs, two counts of Unlawful Delivery of Schedule W Drugs, two counts of Possession illegal Schedule W drugs and operating without a license.

Pinkham's cash bail was set at $75,000.
