Arne Slot 'pinpointed' Liverpool's first exit as new manager suffers major blow

After Jurgen Klopp bid farewell to Liverpool fans on Tuesday evening, the countdown is almost over for Arne Slot to start work at Anfield.

The Dutchman takes the reins with a team in a good position after returning to the Champions League. Hopes of ending Klopp's tenure on Merseyside with a Premier League title were ultimately dashed by Slot who is optimistic his side can be competitive again next season.

Salah 'top of list for exit'

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has told ESPN FC that Mohamed Salah will top Slot's list of players for sale in the summer transfer window. He explained: “I honestly believe that Mohamed Salah would probably be at the top of the list.

“Look, if you want to get £100 million for him, I think you'll take it.”

The ECHO says: Liverpool are still working on the assumption that Salah will be registered next season as his contract enters its final year. The Egyptian has also said on social media since the victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers that he will be present next season. However, Nicol is right that Slot may well be of the view that Salah should be sold if £100million can be raised. It would be foolish to refuse such a sum for a player who could leave for free in 2025. The question is: will this offer be put on the table?

Slot suffers major blow to backstage staff

According to Algemeen Dagblad, Slot could be prevented from bringing one of his trusted assistants to the club this summer. Etienne Reijnen is someone the Dutchman enjoys working with but apparently lacks the coaching qualifications required to move up to the Premier League.

Without these qualifications, it is also more difficult for Reijnen to obtain the necessary work visa for the UK.

The ECHO says: This is perhaps one of Slot's biggest setbacks while building his vision at Liverpool. In modern football, no man can accomplish all tasks alone. The head coach needs a team around him who he can trust and the former Feyenoord player will be gutted that Reijnen cannot join him on this new adventure. Hiring your coaching staff is supposed to be one of the easiest tasks for a new manager. Unfortunately, it looks like Slot may have to add another task to its ever-growing to-do list.
