Army bomb disposal experts called to home of man charged with six weapons offenses

ARMY bomb disposal experts were called to a house and a man was charged with six weapons offenses.

West Yorkshire Police said the team were called to an address in Harley Drive, off Swinnow Lane, Bramley, on Wednesday.

This was “a precautionary measure to assess items found at the address”.

A force spokesperson said: “They have been confirmed to be safe and pose no risk. »

A police cordon had been in place there since Tuesday morning and the Telegraph & Argus spotted two police vans parked outside a house in the street that day.

But the scene was deleted last night.

Steven Fulthorpe, 42, of Harley Drive, Bramley, was charged with common assault, criminal damage and six offensive weapons offenses as part of the investigation.

He was summoned to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court today.

“A man is to appear in court charged with domestic assault and weapons offenses as part of an investigation by the Leeds District Domestic Abuse Team.

“Steven Fulthorpe, 42, of Harley Drive, Bramley, was charged with common assault, criminal damage and six offensive weapons offenses under section 141 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.

“He was summoned to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court today.

“A scene had been in place at his address in Harley Drive since Tuesday morning but was removed last night.

“Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene yesterday as a precautionary measure to assess items found at the address.

“These have been confirmed to be safe and pose no risk.”
