Armonk man accused of trying to stab police officer multiple times

An Armonk man has been charged with attempting to stab a police officer multiple times.

North Castle Police responded to a medical call for an elderly woman at a home on Hallock Place on May 20.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect, Joseph Spennato, 38, who had warrants out for his arrest.

Investigators say Spennato attempted to stab a police officer in the back multiple times during his arrest.

Police said another officer shot Spennato twice and he was taken to the hospital.

On Tuesday evening, Spennato was arraigned on charges of attempted aggravated murder at the hospital.

He will be taken to the Westchester County Jail without bail upon his release from the hospital.
