Armed dacoits shoot dead teenager for showing resistance in Taxila

Rawalpindi – A gang of armed dacoits shot dead a teenager for showing resistance during a dacoity bid within the limits of Taxila police station, informed sources said on Friday. The armed dacoits managed to flee the scene after committing a heinous crime, they said. A large contingent of police officers, led by SHO PS Taxila, rushed to the spot and collected evidence besides recording statements of eyewitnesses as part of their investigation.

The teenager's body was transferred to THQ Hospital for an autopsy. According to the sources, armed dacoits tried to snatch the teenager's mobile phone and shot him dead for showing resistance. The dacoits fled the scene after killing the boy. A large number of heirs of the deceased and local residents also gathered on Faisal Shaheed Road and staged a protest demonstration against the police by blocking it from traffic.

They chanted slogans against the SP, SDPO and SHO for failing to check the drastic increase in street crime in Taxila and demanded departmental action against the police officers from the IG Punjab.

Meanwhile, Ganjmandi police claimed to have arrested two dacoits involved in stealing money from people outside banks. Investigators also said they recovered Rs 6.6 million, weapons and a motorcycle from the possession of the accused identified as Aziz Ullah and Dost Muhammad.
