Argument at New Haven store leads to fatal assault: police – NBC Connecticut

An argument at a New Haven store early Saturday morning led to a stabbing that left one person dead.

St. Raphael Hospital contacted New Haven police around 1 a.m. about a man who had arrived with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Police said it was later determined that Travis James, 47, of New Haven, had been stabbed, not shot.

James was unresponsive and in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe James had been arguing at Sam's Mart on Whalley Avenue when he got into an argument with someone.

The argument escalated and James was allegedly stabbed. Someone then dropped James off at the hospital.

Detectives processed scenes at both the hospital and Sam's Mart.

Police have released a photo of a man they say is wanted for questioning in connection with the stabbing. In the photo, the man can be seen wearing what appears to be green shorts, a white hoodie and a green hat.
