Arcadia Fire burns 100 acres near Dudleyville; residents should prepare to evacuate

DUDLEYVILLE, AZ (AZFamily) — Some Pinal County residents should be prepared to evacuate after a fast-growing wildfire broke out Friday.

The Arcadia Fire was first reported around 4 p.m., south of Dudleyville in Pinal County.

According to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, the fire burned approximately 100 acres in an agricultural field and river bottom without containment.

As of 7:15 p.m., residents should prepare to evacuate in case fire conditions worsen.

An evacuation had been ordered by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office around 6:30 p.m. for people near south Arvaipa Road and west of Trent Road, but it ended shortly after.

The fire caused the closure of parts of a highway in the area. State Route 77 was closed in both directions for about an hour for 3 miles near the Lower San Pedro River State Wildlife Refuge, located about 10 miles south of Dudleyville.

It reopened shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Firefighters are currently battling the blaze from the air and on the ground. What started the flames is unknown.

Dudleyville is about 60 miles north of Tucson.
