Any man involved in human trafficking across Indo-Bangla border detained in south Tripura: police | News from India

Nearly a year after he was found involved in human trafficking on the India-Bangladesh border, Jhutan Das of South Tripura district was arrested on Sunday.

“We arrested Jhutan Das, 28, from Matai area of ​​Belonia subdivision of South Tripura district. He was arrested in connection with a case last year in which four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Agartala,” Tapas Das, in-charge of the government railway police in Agartala, told reporters.

The GRP officer also said that Jhutan Das was found involved in a human trafficking case registered last year by the National Investigation Agency, which filed a charge sheet in the case.

The arrest took place just one day after a Bangladeshi couple arrested with four Indian touts at Agartala station, where they had arrived by the Kanchanjungha Express.

Three Bangladeshi nationals who were about to board a train from Tripura to Punjab were arrested at the Chandrapur interstate bus terminus on May 30.

Five days ago, a man from Tripura was arrested along with a woman in possession of a 9mm pistol and ammunition at the same station where they had arrived on board the Jan Shatabdi Express. The day before, five Bangladeshis, including three women, were arrested while trying to board the Tripura Sundari Express bound for Delhi.
