Another brush fire sparks near Cuyama Friday afternoon – edhat

Santa Barbara County and Los Padres Forest firefighters are on the scene of another brush fire in the Cuyama Valley.

It was triggered around 1:30 p.m. Friday at the exit of Highway 166, near Kirschenmann Road.

It is about an acre in size and has a moderate rate of spread, located on the north side of the highway, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Two engines and a water tender are currently on site with multiple resources unlocked and returned to service.

The cause of this fire is currently under investigation.

This is the fifth fire in the Cuyama Valley in eleven days.

The Hill Fire started on May 28 and grew to 1,383 acres, followed by two smaller fires on May 30 and June 1, while the fourth fire occurred last Tuesday, June 4.
