Andhra Pradesh BJP spokesperson asks SIT to probe alleged land scams involving YSRCP leaders

Andhra Pradesh BJP chief spokesperson Lanka Dinakar has demanded the appointment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and strict punishment against the culprits of the alleged land scams committed over the last five years in Andhra Pradesh at the request of YSRCP leaders.

Land grabbing was carried out in the name of acquisition for projects, with the support of YSRCP leaders, and coercion of 'D' Patta landowners and grabbing of their land cheaply and through illegal development agreements, he said.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Mr Dinakar said the new government should order an investigation into the land scams and initiate action against the culprits. He alleged that plans were being prepared to grab 4 lakh acres of land, in the name of wind and solar power projects, across the state. Shirdi Sai Electricals Limited (SSEL) and Indosol Solar Private Limited (ISPL) were given land on a platter by the YSRCP government, Mr. Dinakar claimed.

Alleging that MYS Jagan Mohan Reddy had a quid pro quo deal with SSEL's Vishveswara Reddy, Mr. Dinakar claimed that Mr. Vishveswara Reddy had donated thousands of crores of rupees to YSRCP candidates during the general elections. He recalled that the project entrusted to Axis Energy Infrastructure Private Limited, for the implementation of a 79,490 MW electricity project, was canceled by the ERC due to its illegitimate acts.

Axis Energy has started acquiring thousands of acres of land in Rayalaseema in complete violation of conditions attached to solar, wind and hybrid power projects. He also alleged that thousands of acres of land were grabbed in the name of setting up a solar panel manufacturing plant by the Indosol company. Handing over the projects to the two companies, which had no prior experience in the field, raised several suspicions, the BJP spokesperson said.

Mr. Dinakar alleged that a pumped storage project in Kurnool district was awarded to the green company owned by Chalamalasetty Sunil, YSRCP MP candidate from Kakinada.

He said that after the NDA government, which will be in power in the state after June 4, should appoint a special task force to probe the land scams committed by the above-mentioned companies.

He demanded an investigation into allegations of land grabbing by the mafia in Visakhapatnam and north Andhra and the alleged involvement of YSRCP leaders in the matter.
