AMBER Alert Disabled for Maverick Brown in Nevada County

California Highway Patrol officials say the alert was deactivated and the child was found.

NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. — A woman was arrested and a 3-year-old child was found safe after what authorities believe was a parental abduction.

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the area of ​​N. Bloomfield Road near Grizzly Hill Road for an assault around 11:40 p.m. Upon investigation, they found a man who had ” visible injuries” during a fight with a woman. child with.

Siera Salitero, 30, was identified as a suspect and had taken their 3-year-old son with her on foot after the fight, authorities said.

An AMBER Alert was issued to search for Salitero and the child around 6 p.m. Several law enforcement agencies began searching the rugged, rural area of ​​Nevada County by plane, on foot and with dogs.

Nearly an hour after the AMBER Alert was issued, search and rescue teams heard “noises and cries for help” in a nearby river canyon.

The California Highway Patrol assisted in an air rescue of the child who was uninjured. Salitero was also uninjured and was helped out of the canyon by authorities.

“We're very, very grateful. We couldn't have done this without the help of these agencies,” said Capt. Sean Scales of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.

Salitero was charged with child endangerment, parental kidnapping and domestic violence, according to Scales.

Scales says CAL OES FIRIS aircraft, search and rescue teams, Grass Valley Police Department K-9 units and other agencies assisted in the search and ultimate rescue of the two individuals. The FBI and other agencies also offered to help.
