A huge fire has been spotted in Alpine, Texas, according to a Facebook post by Brewster County Sheriff's Office. The cause of the fire is still unknown. One of the firefighters was hospitalized. As firefighters continue to battle the large building blaze, the sheriff's office advised people to stay away from downtown Alpine.

Witnesses said that this afternoon in Alpine, Texas, a large fire broke out in the downtown area. It is easy to see the dense smoke and flames. After contacting authorities, city police reported the fire broke out around 4 p.m. The fire chief and all available volunteer firefighters are now on scene, they added.

All lanes are closed in both directions on US-67 East/West at mile markers 908-910; follow the detours. Unfortunately, it appears that Gallery on the Square in Alpine, Texas is a total loss due to a fire that broke out next door, reportedly at Judy's Bread and Breakfast Cafe.
