Allegheny County Sheriff Takes Part in Bike Tour to Benefit Area Veterans

Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus participated in an annual bike ride Saturday to benefit area veterans.

Kraus participated in the 5th annual Veteran Memorial Bike Tour, sponsored by Jack Wagner, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Purple Heart recipient. The ride began on the North Shore and took the riders to visit several Pittsburgh veterans' memorials.

The sheriff's office provided an escort for cyclists participating in the ride.

The ride benefits Pittsburgh Hires Veterans, an organization that helps veterans and their spouses find work or education opportunities throughout Western Pennsylvania.

“You cannot overstate Jack Wagner’s commitment to our area’s veterans or his importance to the mission of Pittsburgh Hires Veterans,” Kraus said. “Often we don't fully appreciate the sacrifice that military men and women make on our behalf, so anything we can do as a community to repay them and help them in their transition out of the service is worth it . .”
