Alleged Massachusetts invader, rapist known as 'Bad Breath Rapist,' captured in Diablo, Calif. – New Bedford Guide

“On February 2, 2005, Tuen LEE broke into a colleague's house and raped her. Quincy detectives investigated the rape/home invasion, quickly identifying and arresting LEE. He was eventually identified thanks to his DNA and his horrible breath, earning him the nickname “the bad breath rapist.” The case was tried in Norfolk Superior and after two days of deliberations the jury found him guilty on all charges, but LEE had already left the state.

For years, the Metropolitan Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) team and Quincy PD detectives have spent hundreds of hours trying to locate LEE. After multiple media campaigns, including several appearances on the show America's Most Wanted, investigators, at the beginning of 2024, found the respite he needed in a case that seemed to have gone unanswered.

New information broke the case open. An address was developed in Diablo, California. Further investigation showed that the multi-million dollar residence was owned by a female flower shop owner. Open source intelligence provided investigators with images of an individual on social media who they believed to be Lee.

On May 28, 2024, VFAS Metro, United States Marshals Service Boston, and Quincy PD joined forces with the Northern California Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force. Surveillance officers observed a man and woman leave the Diablo residence and get into a vehicle. A motor vehicle stop was conducted by Danville Police. LEE initially provided a false name, but eventually confessed when asked for his real identity. Fingerprints confirmed his identity. His partner, after 15 years of living together in California, never knew who he really was. He was transported to Danville PD for booking and will be held pending release to Massachusetts. »-Massachusetts State Police.
