Alleged hot mic moment captures James Worthy shading Bronny James

Lakers legend James Worthy reportedly had harsh words for the organization in a leaked video bashing Bronny James.

Worthy – a former three-time NBA champion turned broadcaster for Spectrum SportsNet, the Lakers' network – was the victim of a hot moment ahead of JJ Redick's introductory press conference as the Lakers' new head coach on Monday, according to LakersDaily.com.

The Basketball Hall of Famer was allegedly heard chastising the organization for how it rebuilt its roster and evaluated LeBron James' son while speaking with his media team after Monday's show, according to a released video on social media by a Lakers fan account.

“Who will we wait for on the second day?” Worthy would have said.

“Dude, just wait until you have to talk about it that night,” someone else was heard saying. “It’s going to hit, it’s going to hurt us.”

The voice believed to be Worthy responded sarcastically: “Well, he's the greatest young player of all time right now, that's Bronny – that's what I'm going to say.”

The other person was then heard saying it was “crazy” that the Lakers were on their third head coach in five years.

“Then they hired the right coaches. So they did it right…They took their time,” Worthy was quoted as saying. “They waited, while we traded (Brandon) Ingram, (Julius) Randle…Kentavious Caldwell-Pope gone, my brother to Sacramento, Malik (Monk) gone…so we weren't getting anything in return. (Russell) Westbrook is gone.

“…So the ink will lead back to the problem, which lies in this infrastructure.”

James, who missed the start of his freshman year at USC after suffering a cardiac arrest during practice last July, was not selected on the first day of the 2024 NBA Draft, which took place Wednesday at the Barclays Center.

This was no surprise to many as the 19-year-old guard was likely to fall out of the picture in the second round.

James was present at the draft in the first round.

However, his agent, Rich Paul, who represents several athletes in this year's draft, was in attendance.

The Post has contacted Spectrum SportsNet for comment.
