WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – Nina Shepherd and her boyfriend, Thomas Burch, say they are falsely accused of abusing seven foster children in their Warrick County home.

“I actually just came out and I feel like I haven't been able to speak my mind until now,” Shepherd said.

Warrick County Sheriff's Office detectives say children in the home reported being hit with a belt and locked in a closet. After deputies executed a search warrant, court records show they found evidence that matched their claims.

The couple was booked into the Warrick County Jail. Shepherd was being held on $750 bond and Burch on $1,000 bond. The bonds sparked outrage on social media.

But Shepherd is adamant that the allegations are false and tells Eyewitness News that the person who reported her has a problem with her personal life.

“She just wasn’t happy with the fact that we put our relationship in this situation,” Shepherd said. “There was nothing wrong with any of us.”
