The Elden Ring DLC preview is out, revealing the first three hours of the game. The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC revealed many exciting secrets about the game. Among all the new details, we finally got our first look at all new weapon types added to the game. If you don't have a keen eye like us, keep reading as we list down all the new weapon types spotted during the Elden Ring DLC preview.

1. Light Swordfish

Light swords are much lighter, longer and sleeker than normal swords. They also have faster attack animation, with fast and long attacks, but have slightly slower starts. Compared to the normal Greatsword weapon type, Light Greatswords have multiple combo attacks, including guard counters.

The Light Greatsword weapon featured in the Elden Ring preview is named Madamand his Ash of War skill allows players to perform a sword jump or quick combo attack.

2. Great Katanas

The Elden Ring DLC will also introduce a new type of Katana, named Great Katanas. These Katanas are much longer and wider than normal katanas in-game. While we haven't seen any of the official Great Katanas, rumor has it that they look like Odachi Swordswhich is a traditional Japanese large sword.

We can expect the Great Katana to be much slower than classic Katanas in the game while hitting just as hard. Great Katanas would also likely bleed enemies, which is common to all Katanas in Elden Ring.

3. Reverse Hand Swords

Another interesting new weapon type introduced in the Elden Ring DLC is the Reverse Hand Sword. These are swords that are held in a reverse grip and have completely new attack animations.

Reverse-handed swords have fast slashes, followed by a dashing slash, and look really fun for PvP. The swords can also block attackswhich suggests that it is a unique weapon that always has dual use.

4. Throwing Weapons

The Elden Ring DLC will also introduce a new type of throwable dagger that can be thrown without consuming FP. The disposable dagger automatically reappears in hand after the throw and provides a great range advantage in melee combat.

Aside from disposable daggers, lots of new weapons are also introduced into other types of weapons that can be thrown away. So far we know of a new spear, a one-handed axe, and a big hammer that can be thrown using the charged heavy attack. This type of weapon will completely change the PvP meta.

5. Perfume bottles

Perfume Bottles are another completely unexpected weapon type added to the Elden Ring DLC. This type of weapon uses a strong Mid-Range AoE Explosive Attacks, which appear as a mixture of pyromancy, spells and incantations. However, they do not consume FP and can be used indefinitely.

Perfume bottles can deal elemental damage, including frost buildup and fire, without using FP. This type of weapon is going to be amazing in Elden Ring's pesky gank spots.

6. Thrust Shields

Thrust shields are a new form of large shields that must be used with both hands at all times. This weapon is both good defensively and offensively. All of Elden Ring's shields can deal damage, and we've seen plenty of dual shield builds in the base game, so it will be interesting to see how this weapon performs.

Thrust shields are attached to a long spear, which can be used to perform punches. However, the weapon can't seem to block grab attackswhich is also true for most other shields in the base game.

7. Dry Leaf Arts (Hand to Hand)

Elden Ring DLC will also add a melee weapon type, first teased during the DLC trailerwhich will essentially allow players to attack enemies with cool spinning kicks. This is a bit different from normal punches without weapons equipped. The melee weapon type has completely new attack animations, straight out of an oriental martial arts film.

From from quick punches to spinning kicks, this new weapon type seems the most fun to play. Preview players reported that the playstyle of the weapon is very similar to the Bone Fist weapon in the Dark Souls 2′ Ivory King DLC.

8. Beast Claws

Beast Claws are very similar to the melee weapon type, but with wilder attack animations. Beast Claws can deal with wild attacks, almost like a beast.

Attack animations are similar to First phase of attacks from the Beast Clergyman of Maliketh, featuring wild claw swings and jumping lunges. This type of weapon seems to be the most difficult to predict in PvP fights, forcing opponents to always stay on their trailers and anticipate the next attack.

I don't know about you but the last weapon definitely looks like my type. However, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is ready to have the best weapons once released. Which is your favorite from this list? Let us know in the comments below!
