“There was confusion because it was almost like something had fallen,” said former DeKalb County Prosecutor Robert James.

James was in the food court with his wife when the shooting occurred.

Four people were injured, including the shooter.

“It was clear that there were shots fired and there was an argument, and all hell broke loose and people started running everywhere,” James said.

“It’s too much,” said witness Salihah Johnson Channel 2's Audrey Washington.

Salihah Johnson was also in the area Tuesday and witnessed the commotion.

On Wednesday, she returned to Peachtree Street to renew her passport at 230 Peachtree Street. She said Homeland Security and Atlanta police evacuated the building.

“It was like I was going backwards!” It's a bomb threat! » Johnson said.

“Explosive detection dogs from various jurisdictions responded to assist in sweeping the building,” said Cpt. Neil Welch of the Atlanta Police Department.

At a news conference Wednesday, Atlanta's police chief said the food court shooting remains under investigation.

He also said he watched surveillance video from inside the food court and saw how people were reacting to the active shooter situation.

“Move quickly to places of shelter when leaving the area. We also saw people freezing. They froze. He did not move and could easily have been the fourth victim,” said Chief Darin Schierbaum of the Atlanta Police Department.
