Albany police investigate robbery, stabbing

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) — The Albany Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred in the area of ​​Western Avenue and Sprague Place. Police said they responded to the scene after receiving reports of a theft around 7:45 p.m.

Police said they found a 22-year-old woman with a back injury when they arrived at the scene. She was treated at the scene and then transferred to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


After investigating, police learned the victim and two others were at the bus stop near Western Avenue and Sprague Place when two men approached them. One of the men was armed with what appeared to be a knife and the two suspects forcibly stole the victims' personal items, stabbing the 22-year-old woman during the robbery.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
