Alan Scarfe, 77, of Lethal Weapon and Star Trek, dies at home after battle with colon cancer

Actor Alan Scarfe has died aged 77, his family has confirmed in a heartbreaking announcement following a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Lethal Weapon star Alan Scarfe has died.

The late actor's family has confirmed that he died at his home in Quebec on April 28, at the age of 77. The British-Canadian actor was known for his roles in films like Star Trek: The Next Generation. He later played Magistrate Augris in an episode of Star Trek: Voyager. He also starred alongside Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon III.




After battling colon cancer, Alan's life had already been turned upside down after his late brother Brian also battled the same illness. The veteran actor known for his many roles traveled throughout Europe, the United States and Canada for his work between 1964 and 1966. Over the next two decades, he starred in more than 100 roles.

Speaking about his career, he said in 2007: “I wanted to be a great classical actor in the long tradition of Burbage, Garrick, Kean, Booth, Olivier. Forty-five years ago, when I started, it was still possible to think this way. a romantic and idealistic way.

In a moving obituary, his loved ones said Alan would have been “lost” without his family, including his daughter Tosia and son-in-law Austin, who cared for him before his death. In his obituary, his family said: “The son of Gladys Ellen Scarfe (Hunt) and Neville Vincent Scarfe, he was born June 8, 1946 in Harpenden, England. He emigrated to Canada with his parents and two brothers, Colin and Brian Scarfe. , while his father pursued an academic career, eventually settling in Vancouver. The current teaching building at the University of British Columbia (the Scarfe Building) proudly bears the name of his father, Neville.

They added: “Alan is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Brian, who also succumbed to the same illness. He is also predeceased by his beautiful and beloved wife, Barbara, who passed away from cancer on August 11, 2019.

“Surviving are his beloved daughter Tosia and his son-in-law Austin, who lived with and cared for Alan until his death, and without whom Alan 'would have been lost'. He also leaves behind his brother Colin , his son Jonathan Scarfe and his cherished grandchildren Kai and Hunter Scarfe, students at the University of Victoria and McGill respectively.

Alan's late wife, Barbara, also appeared in Star Trek, taking on the role of Lursa. In his later years, Alan turned his attention away from the screen and the state and toward writing. His 2019 novel, The Reveal of Jack the Ripper, won him an award. Following the success of his debut, he wrote The Vampires of Juarez, The Demons of September 11 and The Mask of the Holy Spirit.
