Alabama man arrested for thefts, stolen truck still missing

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) — DeKalb County deputies arrested a Crossville, Alabama man for a major property theft that occurred in May. They're still looking for a stolen truck.

The Sheriff's Office said a burglary and theft of numerous items, including the truck, occurred in the Whiton community on May 19.

Then, on Thursday, May 30, DeKalb County investigators executed a search warrant at 360 Old McVille Road in Crossville, Alabama.

Investigators found numerous stolen items at this address and returned the property to its owners.

On May 31, DeKalb County investigators arrested 62-year-old Jimmy Dale Cagle.

He faces the following charges.

  • 1st Degree Theft of Property (2 counts)
  • 3rd degree theft of property
  • 3rd degree burglary

Authorities booked him into the DeKalb County Detention Center on $40,000 bail.

“I am very grateful for the hard work our investigators and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office have done to be able to return these stolen items to the rightful owner. It’s unfortunate that some people think they have the right to go out and take what others have worked hard for, but we have zero tolerance for theft in DeKalb County,” said Sheriff Nick Welden .

Victims say a red 1994 Chevrolet C1500 single cab, step-in cab was stolen. It is labeled Alabama 28B10B8. Investigators are looking for the truck.

Since the truck has not been found, the investigation continues and other charges could be laid against other people.
