Al-Burhan commits to holding Tagadum leaders accountable for their alleged collusion with RSF

June 6, 2024 (KOSTI) – Army Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan pledged on Thursday to hold the leaders of the Coordination Committee of Democratic Civilian Forces “Tagadum” to account, accusing them of collusion with the Forces rapid support (RSF) and conspiracy to kill. Sudanese citizens.

Speaking before a gathering of soldiers at the Kosti military base in White Nile state, al-Burhan said: “Tagadum is colluding with the rebels and conspiring with them to kill the Sudanese people, refusing to stop war unless the army negotiates with them. .”

He stressed that the army would not collaborate with the “rebels” and their accomplices, sending a stern message to the Tagadum Coordination Committee, the Forces of Freedom and Change and politicians aspiring to lead Sudan.

Addressing these groups, he said: “You will not rule Sudan while we are here, and you will not come to Sudan while we are here. No one who associates with the rebels will be welcomed by the Sudanese people.

He added: “These people should find somewhere else to go. We are astonished and dismayed by those who rejoice in the deaths of Sudanese citizens, their looting and the rape of girls while speaking of the illegitimacy of the government.

Hadi Idris, vice-president of Tagadum, spoke to the Sudan Tribune after the coalition's founding conference, held in late May, on the launch of procedures aimed at delegitimizing the government led by al-Burhan.

Al-Burhan said he was aware of the positions of Tagadum leaders and could denounce their corruption, but he respected the state and the people.

He stressed that the army has videos of Youssif Ezzat, advisor to the RSF leader, preparing several statements at the start of the conflict announcing RSF's takeover of power in Sudan.

He continued: “People talk about the army that launched the attack on the RSF camp in the Sports City in Khartoum, but there is no camp there. This is a deception on the part of politicians and the Tagadum clique, but the time of reckoning will come.”

Fadlallah Burma Nasir, president of the National Umma Party and leading figure in Tagadum, recently said that the army began the attack against the RSF on April 15, 2023, the day the conflict broke out before spreading to the most parts of Sudan.

The war persists

Al-Burhan said the army would not be influenced, retreat, surrender or lay down its arms. He stressed that the atrocities committed in the village of Wad Al-Noura are not isolated incidents, citing similar events in El-Geneina (West Darfur), Nyala (South Darfur) and Khartoum, and promised that these actions will not would not go unpunished.

He continued: “We will not tolerate those who carried out these acts, nor will we reconcile with them. »

On Wednesday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a brutal heavy artillery attack on Wad Al-Noura, a village in Al-Jazirah state, resulting in the deaths of at least 150 civilians. The massacre was widely condemned, with the United Nations calling for a thorough investigation and accountability of the perpetrators.

Al-Burhan asserted that the fight would persist until the enemy is defeated and the army, alongside the people, emerges victorious. He promised the residents of Wad Al-Noura that their rights would be largely restored, stressing that this war was not against the army but rather against the citizens themselves.
