AG office details – NBC Boston

A man was shot and killed by police in Nashua, New Hampshire, over the weekend, authorities say.

Officers responded to the Lowe's Home Improvement on Daniel Webster Highway around 8:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of an armed man earlier in the evening who had last been seen leaving his home, it was announced Monday the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.

Officers encountered the man outside the store armed with a gun, authorities said.

“During the ensuing encounter, two officers ultimately fired less-lethal ammunition and one officer fired a firearm,” the attorney general’s office said in a statement.

Authorities say lifesaving measures were attempted, but the man died. An autopsy is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, the attorney general's office said.

The man's name was not immediately released.

The business was completely blocked Monday morning, more than seven hours later, with a large police presence.

A state police van and several Nashua police officers were seen stationed at each entrance. A white tent was also seen pitched Sunday evening as officers investigated the circumstances that led at least one officer to shoot and kill the man.

Authorities say no officers were physically injured and there is currently no known threat to the public.

It's unclear whether Lowe's will be allowed to reopen Monday.
