Adults, children charged after kindergarten graduation fight | News

FAYETTE CO., Tenn. – Three people were arrested after video obtained by FOX13 showed adults and children fighting at a kindergarten graduation.

Deputies were told that a fight took place on May 15, 2024, at the Buckley Carpenter Elementary gymnasium during a kindergarten graduation ceremony, where hundreds of parents and school-aged children were present.

The deputy said he saw a large group of adults fighting in the stands. A deputy was able to catch a woman named Tyeisha Humphreys who was hitting another person named Kierra Smith, records show.

The report also says the deputy bit the women and placed Humphreys in a hallway, but she returned to fight Smith again in the gymnasium with the other group. Humphreys was arrested again and detained and escorted out of the school.

It took several officers from different departments to finally break up the fight inside the gym, records show.

Investigators spoke with Humphreys and she said she was sitting in the gym during graduation when Smith slapped her and then started a big fight. She also told investigators that she grew up with Smith and had a protective order against her.

Smith told investigators that Humphreys actually hit her after she was talking to a child.

Video obtained by law enforcement showed Smith was sitting in the stands and Humphreys entered the gymnasium and sat behind Smith. Humphreys then moved several rows away from Smith when a child and their father, Freddie Springfield, entered the gymnasium and sat next to another child and Smith.

Records showed this video showing an argument between a child and Smith. The child then stood up and adopted an aggressive attitude. Smith then stood up as well and that's when Humphreys came down from the stands and hit Smith from behind.

Humphreys continued to attack Smith and a large fight eventually broke out between 10 to 12 adults and children.

Records also showed that a man named Dantavious Gilchrease was also charged for an argument outside of school and for telling a woman, Rhonda Humphreys, during the argument that he would shoot her in the face. face.

Humphreys was taken into custody for violating the protection order and inciting a riot as well as three counts of simple assault.

Several children were also charged.
