Adams County Sheriff's Office investigates body buried in Strongs Prairie

Police found the body of an adult buried on the property of Sharon Miller, who was reported missing Thursday. They are also looking for Miller's son, Jami Lumby.

STRONGS PRAIRIE — The Adams County Sheriff's Office is working to verify the identity and cause of death of a body found in an unmarked grave on the property of a missing woman.

At 8:19 a.m. Thursday, a caller reported they had not been able to contact Sharon K. Miller, 62, for three days. The caller went to Miller's home in Strongs Prairie and could not find Miller or his son, 37-year-old Jami L. Lumby. Officers checked Miller's property and did not find his daughter or Lumby, according to a news release from the Adams County Sheriff's Office. Officers found an area where the ground had been disturbed and looked like someone had buried something.

Police obtained a search warrant and found an adult body on the property. No autopsy had yet been performed as of Friday. The body has not been identified and the circumstances of the death are under investigation, according to the press release. Authorities are treating the death as suspicious.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information on Lumby's location or who has had contact with Miller since Monday to contact the Adams County Sheriff's Office at 877-885-7786. People can also submit an anonymous tip from the Sheriff's Department app.

The sheriff's office did not say why it was looking for Lumby or who it thought the body might be.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Forensic Sciences Division and Criminal Investigation Division, Wisconsin State Patrol, Adams County Prosecutor's Office , the Adams County Medical Examiner's Office, the Adams County Fire District and Fenner Excavation and Trucking.
