Active barn fire in Londonderry Township

On June 1, 2024, the Keystone Valley Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Cochranville Fire Company and mutual aid in the 700 block of Street Road in Londonderry Township due to a fire in a building.

8-2 Ambulance and Mutual Aid responded and were informed by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller had reported a fire and smoke coming from a building. The owner called the 911 center and advised that the building was believed to be a barn on his property and that the building was severely damaged by fire.

Ambulance 22-2 and Captain 15-A arrived to confirm the report and also reported that there had been explosions inside the barn. Chief 22 (Felker) requested that a water truck task force go to the scene to bring water, as the area did not have fire hydrants. Three additional engine companies were also requested on site to provide labor. Tanker 8 was dispatched to the scene at that time as part of the tanker task force. Chief 22 (Felker) arrived and took command of this incident. Chief 22 (Felker) gave an updated report that the barn was fully involved in the house expansion on the property.

As units and personnel arrived, the commander assigned them their missions. The fire was brought under control at 1:06 p.m. with everyone at work. Extensive salvage and overhaul operations took place during this incident.

Units from the Keystone Valley Fire Department cleared the scene at 3:47 p.m.
