ACTION UPDATE 8: Police identify woman shot and killed near downtown Montgomery

ACTION UPDATE 8: Police have now identified the woman shot and killed near downtown Montgomery on Sunday.

Police said Shayla Jones, 40, and another woman were shot around 3:45 p.m. in the 900 block of South Union Street near Interstate 85.

The other woman's injuries are not life-threatening, according to police. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have opened a homicide investigation into Jones' death.
