Accident with injuries reported on Rabbit Hash Road near Union

WLWT NEWS FIVE LEADS THE WAY WITH THE BREAKING NEWS. A man on a scooter rushed to the hospital after a driver hit him in Covington this afternoon. THANK YOU FOR JOINING AT 5:00 P.M. My name is Sheree Paolello and Mike Dardis R. This accident happened shortly before 3:00 this afternoon on Scott Street, just off Third and Park Place. THERE. A man who lives nearby said he saw the motorcyclist pinned under a car. So the crew had to lift the car to get him out. THE WITNESS SAYS THE MAN ON THE SCOOTER MADE A SHARP TURN RIGHT BEFORE THE WRECK, THE SPEEDING SPEED WAS CONSISTENT AND I SPOKEN TO COVINGTON, WHO SAID IT'S A STATE STREET, J 'SO HAVE SENT COMMUNICATIONS TO THE STATE SAID, WILL YOU PLEASE install speed bumps to stop the crazy speeding here because here we are. This is the second person affected, and we have both stories here. SO THIS IS THE HISTORY OF THE SCOOTER. POLICE SAY SCOOTER DRIVER WENT TO UC MEDICAL CENTER. SERIOUS INJURIES. The driver who hit him is said to be cooperating with police. THE POLICE HAVE NO CHARGES. JUST NOW. So now new details are emerging after a man on a bicycle actually died when a tour bus driver hit him. ALSO THERE IN COVINGTON. NOW A NEW POLICE REPORT SAYS THE DRIVER OF THIS BUS MADE THE MISTAKE. CYCLIST WAS STRIKED AT THE INTERSECTION OF MARTIN LUTHER KING AND SCOTT AND WLWT NEWS HOLMES BRIAN HAMRICK IS LIVE THERE FOR US NOW WITH MORE ON WHAT POLICE SAY HAPPENED. BRIAN. YEAH, SHERRI. Well, that's the intersection. The bus was heading east on MLK. The guy on the bike was heading north on Scott. He was in this crosswalk right here. Every time police say someone was supposed to stop, they say the bus went through the red light. THIS IS WHERE MLK AND SCOTT MEET FOR JONATHAN HUSSING. HE WAS JUST A GREAT SPIRIT. HE WAS A GREAT MAN. IT WAS ALSO THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. His family is still trying to cope with the loss, I continued to call them. I knew something was wrong because I kept calling. As if Amy Hensley was Husing's mother. She says she knew something was wrong the minute she couldn't contact him. I LOVE YOU BOY. THE FAMILY GATHERED AND EVEN HELD A MEMORIAL ON THE SITE. BUT IT IS DIFFICULT. IT WAS SO HARD. Like I couldn't even go back to work. I tried and I can't. IT WAS A MONTH AGO, APRIL 25. Pedestrians hit a man hit by a bus, possibly still underneath. HUSSING WAS STRIKED AND KILLED BY A TOUR BUS WHILE DRIVING ON HIS BIKE. NOW A POLICE REPORT SHEDS NEW LIGHT ON WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED. Most importantly, it tells us that Jonathan didn't do anything wrong. CHRIS NEVILS IS ATTORNEY FOR THE HUSSING FAMILY. He says the report says the bus is seen on video and the driver of that bus makes a mistake. THERE ARE TWO HUMAN FACTORS LISTED. ONE IS IGNORED TRAFFIC SIGNAL. THE OTHER IS INATTENTION, IF I DO NOT FIND MYSELF. So what it means, in so many words, is that you ran a red light. THE INVESTIGATION IS NOT FINISHED, NOR IS THE MOURNING OF JONATHAN HUSSING’S FAMILY. HE WAS MY BABY. BUT IT NEVER WILL BE. YEAH. NOW THIS BUS DRIVER HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED. And police say if that happens, it will happen after the investigation is complete. THIS COULD TAKE ABOUT A MONTH. LIVE REPORT FROM BRIAN HAMRICK WLWT NEWS FIVE. BRIAN THANK YOU. NOW THE WEATHER STORY. COOLER TEMPERATURES ARE AROUND THIS WEEK, BUT WE ARE DRY FOR NOW. AND CHIEF METEOROLOGIST KEVIN ROBINSON SHOWS US HOW LONG THE RAIN BREAK LASTS HERE IN CINCINNATI'S MOST ACCURATE FORECAST. And boy, Kevin, just a beautiful day out there today, isn't it a beautiful day, I mean look at this map of the Ohio Valley. I mean, you can see right now that we're clear of any shower and thunderstorm activity, at least close to home for the moment. THERE'S ACTION IN THE GREAT LAKES. AND AS ANOTHER CHILLY SCROLLS IN HERE THIS EVENING, THERE'S CERTAINLY THE CHANCE THAT ONE OR A SECOND STRAY SHOWER WILL START TO MOVE IN HERE. But that won't happen until much later tonight. AND TONIGHT. SO WE HAVE BEEN ABLE ALL EVENING TO ENJOY MOSTLY DRY CONDITIONS AROUND OUR WOOD PASS, WHILE THE RADAR SEEMS TO REMAIN SILENT UNTIL THE EARLY EVENING, I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN THESE SHOWERS, BUT, MAY BE MOST DISTRIBUTED WHEN OUR RETURN HERE IN A FEW. SHEREE, KEVIN. THANK YOU. OWNERS OF SEVERAL CONDOS NOW CONTINUE THEIR COUNSEL AFTER MASSIVE FIRE AND NEARLY TWO DOZENS UNITS WERE UNLIVABLE IN HAMMOND NORTH AND COLLEGE HILL AND WLWT NEWS FIVE'S TODD – HE NOW LIVES OUTSIDE THE DOWNTOWN COURTHOUSE WITH THE OWNERS BEHIND SAYS THEY ARE MORE THAN A YEAR AFTER THE FIRE, TODD. YEAH, MIKE. You know, it's a connection for people on both sides of what has become a pretty contentious debate over property rights and the rights of fire victims today, here at the Hamilton County Courthouse, A lawyer representing a half-dozen people who own units inside the Hammond North condominiums at COLLEGE HILL HAS ASKED A JUDGE TO STOP THE INSTALLATION OF A PREGNANCY SYSTEM UNTIL FURTHER LEGAL ARGUMENTS ARE PLAYED. NOW THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE CONDO BOARD, TAKING THE OPPOSITE SIDE, HAS TESTIFYED THAT A SHUTDOWN SYSTEM WILL KEEP RESIDENTS SAFE. Two years ago, a fire occurred in Hammond North and claimed the life of a man. THEN, EARLY LAST YEAR, THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE HIGH-RISE BUILDING WHICH LEFT NINE INJURIES, INCLUDING TWO FIREFIGHTERS. BUT ADDING A SHUTDOWN SYSTEM NOW, AS WE LEARNED TODAY IN COURT, IS NOT A SIMPLE PROPOSAL AND SOME RESIDENTS DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE THEIR HOME TO PAVE THE WAY FOR MORE CONSTRUCTION WORK. THE CONDOMINIUM CODE MAKES CONDOMINIUMS REAL PROPERTY UNDER OHIO LAW, EJECTED FROM YOUR REAL PROPERTY. DESTROYING IT FROM THE INTERIOR OF YOUR RESIDENCE IS RECOGNIZED BY THE LAW AS IRREPARABLE DAMAGE. Again, the condo board representative also spoke today, and she argued that it was a safety issue. And she's pushing for this work to really begin as soon as possible because there are so many different variables at play here. CONDO OWNERS WHO DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF BEING TOLD TO LEAVE THEIR HOME FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS IT WILL TAKE TO ADD A SHUTDOWN SYSTEM THEY WANT JUDGE TERRY NESTOR, HAMILTON COUNTY COMMON PLEAS JUDGE, ISSUES A TEMPORARY INTERVENTION ORDER AT THE END OF TODAY'S HEARING. JUDGE NESTOR SAID HE WANTS TO ADDRESS WHAT HAS BEEN SAID ON BOTH SIDES AS A DECISION IS EXPECTED BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK. For now, reporting live from Downtown Todd – WLWT News Five Todd assuming money plays a role in this case. Yeah, you know, Mike, it's a factor, as it often is in these types of cases. ALSO AT PLAY IS THE AGE AND CERTAIN PHYSICAL LIMITS OF SOME CONDO OWNERS WHO ARE TOLD THEY MUST LEAVE. IT IS NOT SO SIMPLE. But when it comes to money, it's not clear at the moment. WHETHER THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM would have been paid for by insurance or if it would have been a personal expense, that would amount to about $15,000, approaching $15,000 for each of the 180 condo owners in HAMMOND NORTH. SO MUCH TO DEAL WITH, NO QUESTIONS ABOUT IT. ALL RIGHT.
