Accident with injuries reported on I-74 near Whitewater Township

TODAY, FAMILIES ALREADY LOOKING AT THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR WLWT NEWS FIVE'S DANIELLE DINDAK HAS ADVICE ON HOW TO ENROLL YOUR YOUNGEST IN OUR AREA'S LARGEST SCHOOL DISTRICT. And new this morning, a new effort in Ohio at the State House to fund public libraries. WLWT NEWS FIVE'S GIACOMO LUCA FINDS OUT THE CONTROVERSIAL BILL AND BOOKS THAT MIGHT BE HIDDEN FROM SHELVES BECOMING SUNNY AND POSSIBLY NOT AS HUMID. I'm watching for the dew points to drop during a few cooler days of the weekend, and only to see a few showers. IT'S WLWT NEWS 5 TODAY, LEADING THE WAY. 5:00 AM YOUR THURSDAY. MORE COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURES OCCUR WITH LESS HUMIDITY. I know people will enjoy this. THANK YOU FOR BEING WITH US. My name is Steven Olberding and Kelly Rippin. WE HAVE A BREAK FROM THE RAIN THAT HAS PASSED. It was a little tough last night. RANDI WE WILL STAY DRY BUT AS WE ARE HEADED INTO A BUSY WEEKEND. So it's time to make things right for us. I mean, really next week we're going to do some nice dry stretching. So if that's what you need to get some work done, you know, a combination of low humidity and dry weather might be a good weekend to get some projects done. As we look at what's happening this morning, yesterday's rain, this cold front, well, now moving through parts of central Kentucky and West Virginia to bring rain across Pittsburgh. WE ARE STILL FACING A LITTLE MUCH AIR, BUT AN IMPROVEMENT IS COMING HOUR BY HOUR DURING THE DAY. So right now, as we watch the live radar, things are pretty quiet. WE HAVE A FEW CLOUDS AROUND AND OUR TEMPERATURES ARE PRETTY STABLE HERE. 70 DEGREES IN MAYSVILLE AS COOL AS 65 IN CONNERSVILLE. Most of us are 6768 degrees. And that's the current temperature in Cincinnati. SO THE TEMPERATURE IN CINCINNATI IS 68 DEGREES. CHECK THE DEW POINT ALSO 68 DEGREES. So it's heavy right now. THIS WILL IMPROVE THROUGH THE DAY. THESE NUMBERS WILL DECREASE AND THIS WILL LEAD TO A MORE COMFORTABLE FEELING. So right now, it's heavy. IN 68. YOU WILL FEEL IT DURING THE MORNING RACE. BUT ONCE WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON IT WILL START TO FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE. EXPECT TEMPERATURES TODAY HIGH TO AROUND 80°F AND WE HAVE SOME COOL DEPARTURES OVER THE WEEKEND. We'll take a look at that coming up with Kelly and Steven. Very good, Randi, thank you very much. It's happening now, summer vacation has just started. BUT PARENTS ARE ALREADY WARNING IN THE FALL, ESPECIALLY REGARDING THE EDUCATION OF EARLY CHILDHOOD. RIGHT. YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN TO REGISTER. ON ALL THOSE DATES, WE HAVE REPORTED NUMBERLY ON THE HIGH COST AND DIFFICULTY OF GETTING A PLACE FOR MANY FAMILIES OF YOUNG STUDENTS AND WLWT NEWS FIVE'S DANIELLE DINDAK HELPING NAVIGATE EARLY REGISTRATION PROGRAMS IN THE MOST LARGE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN OUR AREA. DANIELLE. THIS TIME OF YEAR CAN BE EXPENSIVE AND STRESSFUL FOR MANY FAMILIES, BUT BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IT'S ALSO IMPORTANT TO START THINKING ABOUT THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR. THE CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT IS WORKING WITH DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES TO TRY TO MEET PARENTS WHERE THEY ARE AND HELP ENROLL THE YOUNGEST STUDENTS IN PRESCHOOL, BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE WHO ENROLLS HAS A PLACE , AND IF WE NEED MORE, WE WILL FIND WAYS TO PUT MORE IN. AND WE DO IT THROUGH GRANTS. WE HAVE DIFFERENT SOURCES OF FUNDING TO HELP FAMILIES WE HOPE THAT'S WHAT THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE HERE WILL REGISTER THESE FAMILIES TO LOOK AT WHERE A FAMILY'S SITUATION IS. AND I hope we have a grant that will help them get their child into a high-quality preschool. FROM MONDAY TO THURSDAY UNTIL JULY 25. YOU CAN STOP AT THREE LOCATIONS TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD, OR THEY MUST BE 3 OR 4 YEARS OLD. THESE LOCATIONS ARE WOODWARD HIGH SCHOOL, RICKY PRICE ACADEMY, AND VINE RISING STARS. YOU WILL NEED YOUR CHILD'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND VACCINE RECORD, AS WELL AS A PARENTAL ID CARD, PROOF OF ADDRESS AND INCOME. WE NOW HAVE A LIST OF THESE THREE LOCATIONS ON OUR WEBSITE. RIGHT AWAY. AND ANOTHER THING TO ADD IS YOU CAN CALL AHEAD FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT OR JUST WALK RIGHT. IN. REPORTING LIVE THIS MORNING, DANIELLE DINDAK WLWT NEWS FIVE. OK, now, Danielle, next to these places, open until July. WHAT OTHER OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO FACILITATE REGISTRATION? YEAH. BIG QUESTION KELLY. I can let you know that the big theme this summer is that Cincinnati Public Schools really just wants to get out into the community. SO THEY WILL ACTUALLY BE AT DIFFERENT FESTIVALS THIS YEAR, LIKE JUNETEENTH, THE NAACP FAIR, AND ALSO THE BLACK FAMILY REUNION. SO THESE ARE ONLY THREE FESTIVALS. THEY WILL BE IN MANY OTHERS AND WE WILL ALSO HAVE THEM ON OUR WEBSITE. ALL RIGHT. DANIELLE DINDAK WITH VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION. I know it feels like summer is just starting, but you have to plan ahead. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, DANIELLE. OHIO LIBRARIES COULD LOSE FUNDING TO SHOW HARMFUL MATERIALS TO CHILDREN UNDER NEW PROPOSAL. AN OHIO HOUSE BILL WAS INTRODUCED THIS WEEK BY A NORTHEAST OHIO REPRESENTATIVE ALLOWING OHIO RESIDENTS TO FILE COMPLAINTS AGAINST PUBLIC LIBRARIES. GIACOMO LUCA OF WLWT NEWS FIVE EXISTS FOR US. THIS MORNING. It's live at the Hamilton County Library branch in Hyde Park. GIACOMO, WHAT DOES THIS SAY? YEAH. STEPHEN. Well, libraries will be required to conceal any material of a sexual nature, a broad definition. They would also not have the right to view documents for children unless they have received parental consent. WE HAVE SPOKEN WITH A NUMBER OF LIBRARY USERS IN OUR AREA WHO HAVE THIS TO SAY. I ABSOLUTELY THINK THE TARGET IS LGBTQ MATERIALS BECAUSE FROM THE COUNTRY, THOSE ARE THE BOOKS WE SEE TARGETED TEN TIMES. As far as book bans go, as far as people saying this is inappropriate for young people, even if you read something and you don't like it initially, you can file a complaint about something which you simply don't need to read. AND NOW YOU INSTALL LIBRARIES. AND NOT JUST LIBRARIES, BUT FAMILIES IN DANGER. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO USE THE LIBRARY NOT ONLY AS A COMMUNITY CENTER, BUT AS A PLACE OF SAFETY. NOW THE OHIO BOARD OF LIBRARIES ARGUES that the state's libraries already have policies in place to address the issues raised in this proposal. They say parents have the right to determine what is best for their child, but not to dictate what is best for every child who visits a library. NOW, THE AUTHOR OF THE BILL, STATE REPRESENTATIVE AL COTRONA, SAID IN A STATEMENT. QUOTE, THIS LEGISLATION PROTECTS OHIO MINORS AND SUPPORTS THE POWER OF PARENTS TO HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT WHAT THEIR CHILDREN CONSUME. Now, if this bill were to pass, Ohio libraries found in violation of the law, well, they could lose state funding. WE ARE LIVE THIS MORNING
