Accident on Horsley Drive, Wetherill Park: teenage girl dies

A teenage girl has died and four other people were rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a tree.

Emergency services rushed to Horsley Drive, at Wetherill Park, in Sydney's west, shortly after 11pm on Thursday evening.

The 18-year-old girl behind the wheel was killed instantly.

It is understood she had a provisional licence.

The injured passengers were taken to Liverpool and Westmead hospitals for treatment, which are not considered life-threatening.

Fairfield Police are investigating the incident and asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

“Police will prepare a report regarding the woman's death for the coroner's information,” a NSW Police spokesperson said in a statement.

It comes after three members of the same family were killed in a horror crash between a car and a tanker near Brisbane on Thursday morning.

Steven Wheeler, 54, and his parents Bob Wheeler, 84, and Magret, 81, were pronounced dead at the scene after the collision around 5:45 a.m.

The 52-year-old driver of the semi-trailer suffered minor injuries and was taken by paramedics to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.

Two close friends were killed after a suspended driver crashed into their motorbike in Greenacre, in Sydney's west, on Tuesday night.

William Brown, 26, and his passenger Doey Choi, 24, were thrown several meters after a Toyota Corolla turned at a busy intersection around 7 p.m.

Despite paramedics' efforts, Brown and Choi died at the scene while the driver was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

More than a dozen people have died on New South Wales roads in two weeks.
