Abandoned mobile home near Buffalo, sheriff's office searching for suspects

BUFFALO, Mo. — The Dallas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) is seeking information on who may have left half of a mobile home on the side of the road near Buffalo.

“Nobody wants to think about who's the next guy and who's going to have to pay for this. And a lot of them think, well, he owns a business. He has money. I'm just going to throw this next to his dumpster or they have a deal there. They have money,” said Joe Carver, a business owner in Buffalo.

After a group of individuals left part of a mobile home right across the street from Sheldon's Muffler store, Carver said it's frustrating that people do things like this because it takes time in everyone's day.

“I don't have time to call and try to find out who owns the vehicle when they're coming to pick it up, if it's broken down, if it's abandoned. And you know I have things to do besides guard other people, selfish and self-centered,” Carver said.

According to the DCSO Facebook page, they have very little information on the suspects, but they were able to identify a few vehicles.

Dori York is a local resident who lives near where the mobile home was abandoned. She says she doesn't understand why people do this kind of thing when there's a dump here in town.

“I know it's further away, but we have a dump where you can take your stuff. And there are also people who will come to you and pay you for your waste. So it’s like there’s no excuse for being so irresponsible,” York said.

York says she also had to deal with people leaving animals near her home and leaving her responsible for taking them to the pound.

“It's getting so bad that people are dumping animals and they end up in our yard and we have to save them and I have to take them to the vet and I have to pay the $25 fee for each dog and it breaks my heart because I can't just let them run because we have neighbors down the road who have horses and farm animals and all kinds of things,” York said.

Anyone with information regarding the mobile home or who owns it is asked to contact DCSO at 417-345-2441.
