A teenager (18 years old) dies following a collision with Kesh

A BELLEEK teenager involved in a two-vehicle collision near Kesh has sadly died.

Oisin Gregg, 18, was seriously injured as he walked along Letterboy Road to a music parade in Kesh on Friday evening.

Mr Gregg, who was driving one of the cars, was airlifted to hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He died yesterday (Tuesday).

Tributes have been numerous for the late Mr Gregg.

A spokesperson for Erne Gaels, Belleek, said: “Everyone at Erne Gaels would like to express their deepest sympathies to the Gregg family on the heartbreaking death of Oisin Gregg.

“We are keeping Oisin's parents Mary and Gareth, his brothers Aaron, Callum and Oscar, his sister Aoife and the extended family of Gregg and McGonigle in our thoughts over the coming days.

“As a sign of respect, all club activities are postponed until the next few days.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Devenish St Mary's GAA club said: “All members of the club express our sympathies to the Gregg family following the tragic and untimely death of Oisin.

“We extend our sympathies to the wider family circle and our thoughts and prayers are with them now and in times to come.

“May his sweet soul rest in peace.”

The driver of the other car, a 44-year-old man, was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following a two-vehicle collision involving a silver Peugeot 207 Sport HDI and a blue Honda Accord, police have opened an investigation. Police have asked anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to contact police, quoting reference number 1515 of 07/06/24.

Speaking about the incident, a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) confirmed that two emergency crews had been sent, along with a rapid response paramedic and a paramedic .

The Charity Air Ambulance, with HEMS on board, was also tasked with the incident. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said a total of three fire appliances had been dispatched, from Dromore, Castlederg and Irvinestown.

Firefighters, using specialist equipment, rescued the two injured people from the cars, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
