A shooting was reported on Warsaw Avenue in East Price Hill

THIS IS WLWT NEWS FIVE, LEADING THE WAY, A SHOT LOOPS THE CROWD AT FINDLAY MARKET. A MAN INJURED ON A VERY QUIET SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THANK YOU FOR JOINING HERE AT 5:00 p.m. My name is Mike Dardis. GOOD EVENING TO YOU. MY NAME IS PAOLELLO AND TODAY WE LEARN OF THE SUSPECTS LINKED TO THE CHURCH WHERE POLICE SAY HE OPENED FIRE. BRIAN HAMRICK FROM WLWT NEWS FIVE LIVE NOW WITH THE NEW TWIST IN THE CASE. Hi, Brian. YEAH. Hi, Sherry. Well, the suspect is Ralph Burnett. He was booked here at the Hamilton County Jail. WAS DETAINED AT THE SAME TIME. HE WAS LISTED AS A CHURCH VOLUNTEER FOR ABOVE THE RHINE. THE SOUNDS OF SUNDAY. We have a person shot or shots fired. WE LOOK OUT OUR STORE WINDOW AT THE TIME, AND I HEARD BAM, BAM! A man shot in the leg, just a few feet away as the bullet flew from the crowd at Findlay Market, we saw the proof. WE SAW THE POLICE AROUND. WE SAW THE POLICE WITH WEAPONS. LOOKING AT THE CHURCH. I just say, oh my God, this is really happening. THE DAY I COME TO FINDLAY MARKET. But simple filming includes something that most don't. A CHURCH VOLUNTEER. And we learn that he is not the victim. He's the suspect. THE VICTIM LIVES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE DEFENDANT DOES NOT DO SO. RALPH BURNETT, 25, ARRESTED FOR FELONY ASSAULT. THIS IS A SELF-DEFENSE CASE. I was detained last night by MR. BURNETT'S FATHER. Um, he has no criminal record. THIS HAPPENED AT HOUSE OF HOPE CHURCH, WHERE HE VOLUNTEER. HIS FATHER IS THE ONE AND ONLY PASTOR OF THIS CHURCH. It was right in front of the House of Hope Church. The defense attorney says Burnett intentionally parked cars. No specific details on what led to the shooting, but Burnett's attorney says he had grounds for the dismissal. IN SPEAKING WITH MR. Burnett, there was a threat of serious physical harm which he defended himself against. HOW MANY SHOTS WERE FIRED. I BELIEVE TWO. Oh, in front of a church where the miracle of that Sunday was that no one else was hit. YEAH. NOW THE VICTIM HAS BEEN CUT IN THE LEG. He is expected to be fine. NOW. Burnett's lawyer says he carried a gun because they had cars broken into there. And they've also had some assaults on the property there. HE ALSO ADMITTED THAT THE GUN WAS STOLEN. HOWEVER, HE SAYS BURNETT DID NOT KNOW THIS WHEN HE PURCHASED THE GUN. REPORTING LIVE, BRIAN HAMRICK WLWT NEWS FIVE. Very good, Brian, thank you. So Burnett has already posted 10 percent of a $25,000 bond to get out of jail. He is also under electronic surveillance. A MAN LIVING ABOVE THE RHINE IS ACCUSED OF SHOOTING AND KILLING A MAN AFTER A FIGHT. ERIC HARRIS FACED A JUDGE ON A MURDER CHARGE THIS MORNING. Prosecutors say Harris got into a fight in the street with Sean Beavers. IT WAS IN DECEMBER AND WHEN BEAVERS BEAT HIM, PROSECUTORS SAY HARRRIS PULLED A GUN AND SHOT HIM SEVERAL TIMES. Right there on Republic Street. Harris is being held without bail. Well, the muggy weather is setting in this week, so the question is when will it start to feel more like summer? YES. OUR METEOROLOGIST ALLISON ROGERS HAS MORE ON RISE TEMPERATURES AND WHEN WE MAY GET SOME RELIEF HERE IN CINCINNATI'S MOST ACCURATE FORECAST. HI. Yeah, so this heavy weather continues today, tomorrow and Wednesday. BUT ON WEDNESDAY A COLD FRONT PASSES AND IT WILL COOL US. BUT WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. WE WILL HAVE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS PASSING HERE. MIDDLE OF THE WEEK WITH THIS FRONT. SO ENJOY THE DRY WEATHER. NOW IT'S UP TO 85 IN HAMILTON TO 79. IN CINCINNATI WE HAVE A LOW 80 UPPER 70'S IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY. FLORENCE CURRENTLY SITTING AT 78, HARRISON IS SITTING AROUND 82. SO THE CHANCE OF RAIN FOR TODAY NOT EXISTING STARTS TO INCREASE A LITTLE TOMORROW AS WE MIGHT SEE A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT THIS TIME. THEN ON WEDNESDAY THE CHANCE OF RAIN LOOKS MORE LIKELY AS WE WILL SEE RAIN IN THE MORNING THEN ANOTHER CHANCE OF RAIN THROUGHOUT THE SECOND HALF OF THE DAY. As this cold front passes. SO AGAIN, FOR TONIGHT, IT'S A LITTLE HUMID OUTSIDE, BUT ENJOY TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 80S, UPPER 70S FOR THE REST OF THIS EVENING. SO IN A FEW MINUTES I WILL SHOW YOU WHEN WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE SHOWERS FOR YOUR TUESDAY, AND THEN THE BEST CHANCE OF RAIN ON WEDNESDAY. COMING SOON, SHEREE ALLISON, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. MORE THAN $22,000 NOW OFFERED AS REWARDS IN DEADLY MASS SHOOTING IN AKRON, OHIO. ONE PERSON DEAD, TWO DOZENS OTHERS WERE INJURED IN THIS RIGHT WHILE SHOOTING A HOLMES CAMERA, CAPTURING THE SHOT. NOW THE POLICE CHIEF SAYS MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN AT THAT BIRTHDAY PARTY WHEN THE SHOTS WERE FIRED EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. Police are asking for the public's help in trying to find the shooter, but the city knows people might be reluctant to help. WE RECOGNIZE THE TRUST GAPS THAT EXIST. We are not trying to distance ourselves from them or hide, but we must all, as a community, address the gun violence that exists in our community. INVESTIGATORS RECOVERED MORE THAN 35 CASES AND TWO WEAPONS. They believe some people at the party may have shot at the suspect's car. POLICE SAYS THE VICTIMS STOWED IN A
