A new Miss Hawaii's Teen and Miss Hawaii 2024 have been crowned

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Miss Hawaii Organization's annual pageant concluded last weekend with the crowning of two new titleholders. New Miss Hawaii's Teen 2024, Nicole Taylor McClain, and Miss Hawaii 2024, Hayley Cheyney Kane joined Wake Up 2Day to share all about their journey to the crown.

Both ladies spent many months preparing for the pageant, especially the talent portion that makes up a large part of the scholarship competition. With an extensive background in musical theater, Miss Hawaii teen Nicole McClain delivered her rendition of Defying Gravity from the hit musical Wicked. Her performance demonstrated commitment, perseverance and confidence, which were well-received by the judges. New Miss Hawaii, Hayley Cheyney Kane, wowed the audience with a hula dance titled “Aloha wau iā‘oe” while singing. The addition of vocals to the performance increased the difficulty of an already difficult undertaking. A factor that convinced the judges and audience that Cheyney-Kāne was fit to represent Hawai‘i at the 2024 Miss America pageant.

The ladies also plan to spend their year as titleholders serving the community. Nicole plans to inspire the next generation to pursue entrepreneurship as she plays an important role in her family's business, McClain Auctions Hawaii. Hayley is a preventative measures educator at Waimanalo Health Center and hopes to teach the community about preventative lifestyle changes on a broader scale, such as preventing diabetes or high blood pressure.

Both ladies will compete in the Miss America's Teen and Miss America pageants next year. Dates to be determined. To follow their journey for the coming year, you can find them respectively on Instagram (@missamericasteenhi and @missamericahi).
