A new community station for the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and Lodi Township

In partnership with Lodi Township, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office has opened a new community station.

Located at Lodi City Hall at 3755 Pleasant Lake Road, the community station officially opened last week.
WCSO announced the opening on Facebook.

“A shared commitment. Many thanks to Supervisor Jan Godek, Clerk Christina Smith, Treasurer Michelle Foley and the entire Lodi Township Board of Trustees. This would not be possible without your unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe! »

Lodi Township contracts with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office for police services. The Sun Times News contacted Lodi Clerk Smith to ask about the new station.

“Having the office at City Hall reduces the time our deputies spend from Manchester Station to the township,” Smith said.

Lodi did not have a station from which its deputies could work; they have been stationed in Manchester for years.

“By providing them with an office in Lodi, it reduces their travel time to and from Lodi,” Smith said.

Lodi hires three deputies for the township, so by having this position in the township, it strengthens the police presence in Lodi Township.

Smith said deputies will be available in the municipality when possible, and there is also a Blue Box phone located at the front of the building that calls 911 directly in an emergency, which is helpful if you don't have a cell phone.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with the sheriff’s office for many years to come,” Smith said. “Not only will Lodi deputies use this office, but it will also be available to any deputy should the need arise.”

WCSO also has community stations for Dexter/Dexter Township, Manchester, Salem Township, Scio Township, Superior Township, Webster Township, York Township and Ypsilanti Township.
