A ruthless brute accused of “mercilessly” stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death outside her Manhattan apartment building was charged with murder Wednesday, prosecutors said.

Tyquane Jemmott, 33, is accused of waiting for Shirley Rodriguez, 29, outside the Washington Heights building around 5:30 a.m. on May 20 – and lunging at her in a vicious attack of a minute as she shouted, “Ty, why me?” Why me?” said the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Rodriguez was stabbed “at least 10 times,” with injuries to her face, arms and torso.

Mortally injured, the bloodied victim still managed to stumble into the lobby of the building to ring her apartment and summon her mother and sister, telling them as she lay dying: “Ty did this to me.

“This is a horrific domestic violence murder,” Assistant District Attorney Shilpa Kalra said in court Wednesday. “The defendant stabbed his ex-girlfriend at least – at least – 10 times. We are still waiting for the autopsy report.

“He is on video, hiding behind parked vehicles, literally lying there for about three hours, waiting for his ex-girlfriend who just broke up with the defendant a week prior, waiting for her to leave his home to work.”

“He stabbed her mercilessly, again and again,” Kalra added, telling Judge Gregory Carro that the shocking attack “lasted more than a minute.”

Jemmott reportedly fled the scene but was arrested later that day at a relative's apartment in the Bronx.

“Shirley Rodriguez was loved by her family, including her mother, father and sister who so tragically had to hear this young woman's last words as she succumbed to her injuries,” said prosecutor Alvin Bragg in a statement. “My thoughts are with them as they continue to mourn his loss.”

Jemmott waited outside that Washington Heights building on May 20 and attacked Rodriguez as she left for work, according to prosecutors. Citizen

Jemmott was charged with second-degree murder in the indictment and was ordered held without jail pending a Sept. 18 court appearance.
