A man is dead after a fatal crash on Highway 118 near Moorpark Monday evening

MOORPARK, Calif. – An 88-year-old Moorpark man was found dead after a fatal crash on Highway 118 in Moorpark around 11:10 p.m. Monday, according to the CHP.

CHP units arrived and found the man on the side of the road with serious injuries that they later determined were caused by a vehicle accident that occurred on the highway west of Montair Drive .

Lifesaving measures were taken, but the man later died from his injuries from the crash, according to the two witnesses and the type of injuries he suffered, the CHP said.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but witnesses said a large, dark-colored pickup truck struck the victim and continued driving westbound after the collision, the CHP detailed.

All lanes of the freeway remained open while the CHP investigation was underway, with multiple Ventura County agencies assisting with the incident.
