A link is missing in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

In a crazy turn of events, we are treated to a new Zelda game this year after all. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the latest adventure in which players control the titular princess as she attempts to save Link. It's coming to Switch on September 16.

At the start of the trailer, it looked like a possible remake of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages or a direct continuation of Link's Awakeningbut it turns out Echoes of Wisdom is a brand new game in the hit Nintendo series. Still in the chibi art style of the 2019 remake of Link's Awakeningit looks like a puzzle game where Zelda uses a magic wand to throw enemies, catch birds, and throw fireballs.

Look at:

Link appears to be swallowed up by a purple sinkhole at the start of the game, with Zelda searching for clues as to where to find him and bring him back to Hyrule. Pig Ganon is also back to cause trouble. I wonder if Zelda will be able to go head-to-head with him in the final boss fight or if it will be when Link returns to the scene to deal the final blow like he did in all the others. Zelda game over the past 30 years.

It will be interesting to see how long Echoes of Wisdom is and if it ends up feeling like the main adventure that the Princess of Hyrule deserved. Luckily, Nintendo seems to be pulling out all the stops on all of its Zelda games, whether they're open-world adventures or top-down dungeon crawlers. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for the 3DS is still one of the best games the company has ever released.

Arrived in September, Echoes of Wisdom will kick off what appears to be another quiet year for the end of the Switch's lifespan. With the Switch 2 reveal expected in the coming months, today's Nintendo Direct showed that the second half of 2024 is shaping up to be another strong period for the handheld hybrid.
