A Hutto sentenced to 99 years in prison

A Williamson County jury found Josue Antonio Gurrola, 39, of Hutto, guilty of sexual assault of a child on Tuesday, June 4.

The Williamson County Prosecutor's Office said the jury sentenced Gurrola to 99 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Institutional Division after a three-year trial.

“The jury's verdict of 99 speaks to the seriousness of the crime committed and the lasting impact on the victim's life,” said prosecutor Shawn Dick. “We hope this sentence will bring comfort to the victim and serve as a stern warning to those who commit such heinous acts in our community.”

The victim, aged 14, suffered several sexual assaults at the hands of Gurrola in early 2021, according to the prosecutor's office. The incidents occurred both at a Hutto residence and in a vehicle Gurrola borrowed from a family member.

Prosecutors said Gurrola was known to the victim and was in a position of trust for the child.

The prosecutor's office said the victim first made an outcry to her mother, who contacted Hutto police to report the crime. As a result, the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center conducted a forensic interview during which the victim detailed the assaults.

Gurrola was arrested on unrelated charges in Round Rock on October 4, 2021.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Bailee Beilman and Cari Warner.

“My office will continue its unwavering pursuit of justice for survivors and their families to ensure that those who commit such wrongdoing are held accountable,” Dick said.
