A group disapproves of the increase in traffic in the Plateau

The Coordinator of the Plateau State Child Protection Network (CPN), Mrs. Sandra Chikan, has condemned the high rate of child trafficking in the state.

The CPN coordinator said on Sunday that it would not continue to tolerate the trafficking of girls and children for forced labor and prostitution.

“We will no longer tolerate unlawful acts where children and youth in Plateau State are deceived, forced or persuaded to leave their homes and then transported and forced to work or sold or trafficked for exploitation sexual.

“Given the alarming increase in cases of child trafficking, young girls from Plateau State have been repeatedly lured by syndicates to other countries and states for prostitution and child labor.

“The Child Protection Network condemns this despicable act and we call on parents and guardians to be aware of these crimes,” she said.

According to the CPN, parents and community members should not fail in their primary responsibility to protect and educate their children.
He further urged community leaders to report any such illegal activities and crimes to law enforcement.

“The government should explore options to ensure policies are implemented and involve stakeholders in a concerted effort to combat this menace and crime,” she said.

Describing the situation as worrying, Chikan called for harsher punishment for the perpetrators to serve as a lesson to others.

“This ugly trend must stop. We must oppose it; We will no longer tolerate this situation,” she stressed.
