A drowned eagle found near the Montour bridge

The body of Daniel Frandson, 24, was found 10 miles downstream from where he jumped.

BOISE COUNTY, Idaho — The body of Daniel Frandson, 24, of Eagle was found by a helicopter search on Monday, June 10 around 9:30 a.m. Boise County Sheriff Scott Turner confirmed that Frandson had was found near the Montour Bridge in the Payette River approximately 16 kilometers from where he and his friend were recreating on May 31.

“Following an aerial search, the Boise County Sheriff's Office reported seeing a body in the Payette River near the Montour Bridge. The Boise County Sheriff's Office, along with the Boise County Sheriff's Office Gem County and the Ada County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, responded The body of Daniel Frandson, the 24-year-old swimmer who went into the water on May 31, 2024, near the bridge. Horseshoe Bend Railway Station, has been located. The case is under the direction of the Boise County Sheriff's Office,” a press release states.

As KTVB previously reported, three people have lost their lives in Boise County rivers this year. Sheriff Scott Turner said people need to use caution at this time in rivers and have safety equipment.

On May 31, while Frandson and his friend were jumping into the Payette River at Horseshoe Bend from rocks and a bridge, the current became too strong for them. One of them was able to swim to shore and get help, leading to Frandson's recovery several days later.

“I caution people looking to recreate on rivers to exercise caution. Water levels and flows are still rising. The current is moving faster than it appears. Safety equipment such as life jackets are essential when recreating,” Sheriff Turner told KTVB. .
