A breakfast that improves bowel function has been identified

Gut health cannot be ignored. The fact is that experts are finding more and more evidence confirming the close connection between our intestines and other organs.

For example, the gut-brain axis was discovered. This is the connection between the intestines and the central nervous system. Such an axis affects a number of different aspects of general condition.

Diet plays an important role in improving bowel function. When it comes to breakfast, experts recommend paying attention to one product. According to nutritionist Amy Hudson, the best breakfast for a healthy gut is oatmeal.

“Oats contain a high amount of soluble fiber and act as a prebiotic, helping to feed beneficial bacteria in the intestines,” explains the expert.

Additionally, oatmeal can be combined with other breakfast products. “Oatmeal and peanut butter, oatmeal with Greek yogurt and nuts, or oatmeal with berries are all healthy ways to start the day,” Hudson emphasized.

The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry reports that beta-glucans in oatmeal have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. According to the study results, beta-glucans increase the number of beneficial bacteria in the intestines, which also leads to an improved immune response.
