A 71-year-old landlord allegedly got his tenant's 14-year-old child pregnant

A 71-year-old man identified as Adesina has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old child.

Adesina was caught having sex with the minor in the bathroom of the house on Tuesday around 10:15 p.m.

The septuagenarian was arrested by neighbors and community members who witnessed the scene and also raised the alarm.

Sex with a minor is considered rape in Nigeria.

The teenager was taken to hospital by her father to check for infection.

However, hospital results show the teen was approximately six weeks pregnant.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the spokesperson of the state police command, Omolola Odutola, told newsmen that the case had been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department.

“The owner was arrested and detained. The father said he was caught soiling his 14-year-old daughter in their bathroom. The teenager was taken to Tamara Hospital in Akute for a medical examination.

“However, the medical report further showed that this was not a first act. The test showed that the teenager was already six weeks pregnant. The Eleweran State CID will soon take up the matter for further investigation,” Odutola said.

The results of further investigations would help determine whether the owner is responsible for the pregnancy or someone else.
